A Call for good Programming Blogs

Submitted by nev-sama on Wed, 07/09/2008 - 08:55

What programming blogs do you read and recommend, and why?

The blogs I recommend

Groovie
The author works on Pylons and has offered some useful python stuff
Ian Bicking: a blog
Ian Bicking contributes quite a bit to the pylons/python community, and he helped me get my AppEngine stuff going, just from reading his blog and examples. Strikes me as a smart guy.

Here's a few:

I like raganwald. (http://weblog.raganwald.com/) He's a bit of a language geek, seems to speak from experience and authority on a few software engineering topics, and seems all-around bright.

From my work with Bus Scheme, I find the blog of technomancy to be an interesting read (http://technomancy.us/). Some programming, but mostly all tech-related in some way.

I also like a lot of programs Ryan Davis writes (zentest, autotest, hoe, vlad), and he has some good posts on his blog too, though it's a bit light on content sometimes. http://blog.zenspider.com/

For a language geek like me, the canonical source for cool stuff is LTU (http://lambda-the-ultimate.org/)

For some CSey stuff, Neighborhood of Infinity occasionally has some good stuff (http://sigfpe.blogspot.com/). Similar is Universe of Discourse (http://blog.plover.com/), though it seems a little more grounded in actual programming.

I met the guys at thoughtbot (http://giantrobots.thoughtbot.com) and OG (http://b.logi.cx) at railsconf, so I'm subscribing to their blogs. They're in my 'Trial' folder for now, but they'll probably get bumped into a full readership status.

Probably more from me next time I open my RSS reader, but that's it from the top of my head.

My programming blogroll in opml

I have set the text attribute to simple notes about the blog. I'll come back later and add more detailed notes on why I have them in my blogroll.
