How do you read RSS?

Submitted by jedediah on Wed, 07/16/2008 - 08:02

I treat RSS like email, in that I want to make sure I've read everything and flagged things I think might be relevant. On a daily basis, I try pretty hard to make sure I mark everything as read before starting my day.

How do you read RSS? Do you leave large groups of things unread? Do you flag articles as a reminder to read them, or do you just keep them marked as unread?

I try to treat RSS like email but it's closer to a magazine with me. In that I like to keep things read, but there are some that I want to read and do not have the time, so I mark (or leave the marked) unread. I do have large chunks left un-read, but those are for new blogs I am still deciding on.

If a blog is consistently bad, I remove it. I never trust headlines. I will read things throughout the day, but do not have a set time for reading blogs.

I do pretty much the same

I do pretty much the same thing.

However, I read RSS like a newspaper. I read the headlines and only go deeper for the stuff that looks interesting.

I zero my rss inbox in the morning, and then keep it zeroed throughout the day.
